Our Story
We are a group of designers, crafts people and antique experts who first met a long time ago, working on a large project for an interior designer furnishing a luxury home for a high net worth family. Since then we’ve crossed paths again and again over the years, helping each other make things, restore things and source things for all sorts of projects.
The trouble is, sometimes the perfect find doesn’t quite fit the final scheme. Sometimes we simply bought too many. And sometimes, if we’re honest, we fell in love with something we secretly knew would never work, but couldn’t quite help ourselves. Flara Collects was born the day we realised between us we were storing far more beautiful things than our homes and offices could ever hold.
We’ve been building our drops since 2024, often ganging up on each other to release a piece just so we had the excuse to buy something new. Our faithful barn is bursting at the seams these days, and we couldn’t be more excited to start sharing it all with you, drop by drop, over the coming years.
Into the Wilds
“Into the wilds” is what our London colleagues call a visit to our warehouse, which is really a very large storage barn in a field. We keep its exact location under wraps for security, but the reality is rather less rugged than it sounds.
We are based close to Cirencester in Gloucestershire, at the heart of the Cotswolds, a historic market-town area with excellent road connections rather than an entirely remote corner of the countryside.
It is the perfect spot for the Flara gang to convene before an adventure, compare notes over new finds, or deposit a particularly promising piece for a little later attention before heading off to the next project. Our barn may be tucked away, but it is very much where the collecting, plotting, repairing and reimagining begins.
Our Name
We started by being called ‘The Eccentric Nook’. In interior design, a nook is a small, considered space, often an alcove, corner or recess, which has been made inviting and purposeful. It is the kind of forgotten spot that becomes somewhere to pause, read, display a treasured object or simply sit for a moment. But nooks are not found in every country, or every language. They tend to belong to homes that have grown over centuries, with an extra room here, an odd corner there and generations quietly adding their own chapters. And, if we’re honest, we giggled rather too much at the idea of “putting things in your nook” - it began to sound faintly improper.
So we blended our names together and made Flara. Before long, she became one of us. Now, when we spot a piece on a buying adventure, the question is always the same: Would Flara like this? Is this Flara’s taste?
She likes colour, character, a little eccentricity and beautiful things that deserve another chapter.
Our Logo
Two of our team are utterly obsessed with cherries, forever snacking on them wherever they go. We’ve half joked that the barn is going to start sprouting cherry trees at this rate, and someone even suggested we recycle the stones as packing balls.
But it also gave us an idea. A lot of what we find is exactly that finishing touch, the small, considered piece that becomes the cherry on top of an already perfect space. It ties a room together, sits proudly in a forgotten corner, or gives a scheme its final flourish. So the cherry became our logo, a nod to two very committed snackers, and to the very thing Flara Collects does best.
