Vintage Dish, Ridgway Windsor

Price: £20

Dimensions: Height 3 cm, Length 13.5 cm, Depth 13.2 cm (1.2 in x 5.3 in x 5.2 in)

A perfectly sized vintage blue and white Ridgway dish in the Windsor pattern, made in Staffordshire, England. The richly detailed decoration brings together a central floral spray, scrolling foliage and ornamental cartouches, creating a lovely miniature version of classic English transferware.

Dating from the 1960s to early 1970s, it carries Ridgway’s “Genuine Hand Engravings” backstamp, together with its wonderfully reassuring promise that the colours are underglaze and detergent proof. Windsor was produced in several colourways during the 1960s, with this blue version drawing on the enduring charm of Asiatic Pheasants-style decoration.

A wonderfully useful little dish to keep beside the sink for rings, by the bed for earrings, or on the coffee table for a clutch of mini Easter eggs. Small, cheerful and rather hard to resist.
