Champagne Coupes, Bamboo Pattern
Price: £55
Dimensions: Height 10.5 cm, Length 8.2 cm, Depth 8.2 cm (4.1 in x 3.2 in x 3.2 in)
A set of four vintage champagne coupes with a beautifully etched bamboo design, each one made for parties, toasts and a little table-side theatre. With their slender stems, rounded bowls and crisp botanical decoration, they bring a wonderfully glamorous mid-century feel to champagne, cocktails or a very excellent pudding.
Likely dating from around the 1950s–70s, the bamboo motif has that brilliant balance of English eccentricity and far-flung holiday glamour. Similar bamboo-etched coupe glasses have been attributed to mid-20th-century Japanese makers, including Sasaki Noritake, although we have not found a maker’s mark on this set, so we are listing them simply as vintage etched glass.
We are always hunting for these. They make marvellous birthday, engagement, housewarming and 21st birthday presents, and finding four matching glasses in such lovely condition is becoming increasingly rare. Fill with fizz, a cherry-topped cocktail or even trifle, and let the bamboo do the talking.
