New York! New York! What a place, what a plate. This vintage purple and white Staffordshire ware souvenir plate was made in England for Enco National Inc. of New York, celebrating the city in all its glorious mid-century bustle. The central design brings together its most recognisable landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center, all framed by a wonderfully decorative floral border.

Made after 1966 and most likely dating from the late 1960s to early 1970s, it is a brilliant little slice of optimistic American travel memorabilia. The reverse is marked “Fabulous New York City of Wonders”, along with the Fine Staffordshire Ware, Made in England and Enco National Inc. details, making it a particularly lovely keepsake of the city that never does things quietly.

Use it as a charming landing spot for cufflinks, rings and AirPods, or pop it on a shelf with a few favourite treasures. A miniature Manhattan moment, without the taxi queue.
